Taking their streets back, Bostonians were overjoyed learning the wounded TSARNAEV was apprehended and still alive.\u00a0 Found hiding in a boat, wintering in a backyard,\u00a0FBI negotiators skillfully\u00a0coaxed DZHOKHAR out from\u00a0underneath his\u00a0lair having been concealed by a blue tarp which kept him\u00a0secreted from investigators, but not\u00a0the\u00a0thermal imaging helicopter seen\u00a0circling above\u00a0when police\u00a0made their arrest.\u00a0 Bloodied from the previous night’s gunfight, photographs suggest he was no\u00a0match for police SWAT teams when\u00a0agents finally took him into custody.\u00a0 But it was “not” clear whether he had a gun and\/or tried to use\u00a0the weapon\u00a0prior to his surrender and being taken into custody.\u00a0 Conflicting police reports suggested he had a weapon, but the overwhelming police support suggested<\/p>\n
Of course, questions\u00a0still linger\u00a0concerning\u00a0leaks in the investigation and whether the FBI did its job, since reporters said agents told Russian intelligence officials TEMERLAN TSARNAEV was “not” a threat following\u00a0an interview.\u00a0 And during the\u00a0night’s rampage, one policeman was killed\u00a0and several more were wounded as police traded gunfire with\u00a0both TSARNAEVs before\u00a0TEMERLAN was felled by police bullets and later run over by DZHOKHAR–fleeing in a stolen car.\u00a0 Seen throughout the day searching backyards and various houses, responding\u00a0police\u00a0were both considerate and professional, telling Watertown residents to remain inside unless instructed to open\u00a0a front\u00a0door by a uniformed officer–looking for evidence the younger TSARNAEV might still be in the area.<\/p>\n
Reporters\u00a0said Bostonians everywhere were\u00a0seen celebrating in the streets, having been on edge since Monday when the bombings occurred, with some cops\u00a0observed obviously enjoying\u00a0a\u00a0brief moment in the sun.\u00a0 Congratulating authorities, journalists credited police with apprehending the younger TSARNAEV before anyone else\u00a0was hurt\u00a0and one\u00a0official\u00a0said\u00a0he was told DZHOKHAR had\u00a0a gun when he was captured.<\/p>\n
True questions remain\u00a0concerning whether the nation’s intelligence agencies\u00a0shared appropriate information and whether the TSARNAEVs should have been on the\u00a0Bureau’s active radar screen given the\u00a0fact Russian\u00a0intelligence alerted\u00a0officials TEMERLAN might be involved in terrorist activity, but Monday morning is soon enough for the troubling questions and any subsequent review.<\/p>\n
